NEXT BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, October 15, 2019
The Mayor will be hosting open office hours this week in his office at Borough Hall on
Friday, October 11, between 9:30am and 11:30am.
No appointment necessary.
There will be no garbage or recycling collection on Monday due to the Columbus Day holiday. Pickup for the Northwest quadrant will be on Tuesday, 10/15 and for the Southwest quadrant on Wednesday, 10/16.
The Metuchen Traffic and Transportation Committee's meeting, origionally scheduled for Wednesday (10/9), has been re-scheduled to Wednesday (10/16), 7:00pm at Borough Hall.
AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR METUCHEN RESIDENTS
As Middlesex Water Company continues with the installation of its large diameter 4.5 mile-long supplementary water transmission main, approximately 240 feet of new main will be installed in Metuchen requiring road closures and traffic detours on Durham Avenue for approximately 6 weeks, beginning October 14, 2019.

For week of October 7, 2019, the work activities for the Middlesex Water Company Western Transmission Main project are anticipated to be as follows:
North of Route 287 - Borough of Metuchen
- J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. (JFC) will continue to transfer service connection along Jersey Ave.
- J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc. (JFC) will start to install line stop and 30-inch valve on along Central Ave.

Water main installation work along Jersey Avenue is scheduled to start this week from the intersection of Jersey Avenue and Durham Avenue. Current schedule indicates that the trenchless installation along Durham Avenue will start the week of October 7, 2019. Durham Avenue from John Street to Central Avenue will be closed to eastbound traffic while the work is taking place. All trucks will be routed to John Street during the construction period. The work will run approximately 8 weeks depending on weather and production. Traffic control for one-way traffic is scheduled to be set up advising motorists of detours in the week of September 30, 2019.
Elizabethtown Gas Pipeline Replacement Project
The next phase of Elizabethtown Gas’ pipeline replacement project will be taking place in the Durham Ave, Central Ave and Maple Ave area. The work is tentatively scheduled to start around 9/24/19. Information about the project can be found at Durham Avenue and Central Avenue. There will be traffic detours and changes during the construction which should be completed in 2 weeks.
