Mission Statement

As the sole agency responsible for providing Fire & Rescue services to the residents of Metuchen, we take seriously our obligation to developing and maintaining an organization which will sustain that mission.  Following are the guiding principles which help to determine the best course of action to be taken concerning operations and the four main objectives which make up the mission statement of the Metuchen Fire Department.

It is the mission of the Metuchen Fire Department …

  1. To provide the highest level of fire, rescue and emergency service to the residents of Metuchen, the people employed within the borough and to those passing through on roads or rail.
  2. To accomplish Principle #1 while ensuring the maximum level of safety to the departments members through training, equipment and operational policies.
  3. To provide the members of the Metuchen Fire Department with appropriate compensation and to foster an atmosphere conducive to the continuation of their service to the community.
  4. To conduct the business of the Metuchen Fire Department with professionalism, fiscal responsibility and the understanding that we are accountable to the residents of Metuchen for our actions and performance.
